9Feb09
- February's verse on my calendar is taken from 1Timothy 2:4 and it says (paraphrased): In CHRIST JESUS, ABBA desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
- The last two words 'the truth' reminds me of a coursemate who delights in posing philosophical questions.
- Like when he asked why is there no freedom for people to question the holocaust - anyone who does will be jailed, period, he said.
- Someone then replied that it is utterly wrong to question this when it is the truth that some 6mil Jews were murdered.
- So here comes the question: Tell me, what is the truth?
- And so, the argument can go on forever.
- Well, GOD's Word defines truth - His Truth - in 1Timothy 2:5 and 6, the verses that follows immediately:
- "For there is one GOD and one Mediator between GOD and men, the Man CHRIST JESUS, who gave Himself a ransom for all..."!
- You may have read The Truth above
- Will you believe it?
- The Truth declares that there is only one GOD and only one Mediator: CHRIST JESUS
- In John 14:6, JESUS said: I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
- Contrary to the pacifying statement that we have all heard at one time or another: It's all the same - all rivers flow into one ocean.
- GOD's Truth says it very differently.
- And why?
- Because of verse 6 of 1Tim 2 - JESUS is The Mediator who died so that you and I can have life, abundant life, and eternal life!

That's Relativism. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relativism

The most imfamous relativist was Pontius Pilate:

John 18:37-38

37"You are a king, then!" said Pilate.
Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."

38"What is truth?" Pilate asked. With this he went out again to the Jews and said, "I find no basis for a charge against him".

Christians believe in absolutes. These include the Absolute Truth, the Lord Jesus Christ. Pilate was flexible with the truth and justice. Jesus was not guilty, but Pilate was not prepared to stand up for truth and justice if that meant going against the wishes of the mob:

John 19:12

12From then on, Pilate tried to set Jesus free, but the Jews kept shouting, "If you let this man go, you are no friend of Caesar. Anyone who claims to be a king opposes Caesar."

Absolutism:

Matt. 24:35

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Relativism:

It depends... Tell me more.

God bless you.
