- Saw something interesting in Jumbo Supermarket: Jars of raisins soaked in liqueur - called brandwijn - but the sales personnel wasn't able to tell me what is it - says it isn't when I suggested it might be brandy.
- Interesting because a friend in Singapore says her mother soaks black raisins in vodka for about 7 x 7 days (49) (don't ask me what's the significance, she doesn't know either). After that, her mom will pick 9 raisins to eat every day - and it made her arthritis much bearable.
- Interesting because when I recounted that to the friendly and chatty sales personnel, he said - hear this - yes, any liqueur will make any pain much better!!! LOL!
- He says it is merely one way the Dutch eats liqueured raisins, and it's just for "leisure" - I take it that he means it is just like a tidbit, and no connections to any naturopathic cures at all. But who knows - his parents and his grandparents may have another story! There are many sides to a jar of liqueured raisins!
