Duncan Bannatyne, a self made billionaire in the fitness industry, has set up an orphanage in Africa. He thinks that stars who cherry-pick children to adopt is doing the larger community a disservice. He believes that Madonna is able to provide a wonderful life for Mercy, "but if you can help ten children and give them a better life in their own country, it might be less glamorous, but isn't that a preferred solution?"
Moreover, if adopters "select the cutest orphans, adopting only those who don't have HIV or oher serious longterm illnesses, then all that's left are children nobody wants or with incurable diseases. So you leave behind a situation of even greater despair than you arrived."
