A guy, suspected of killing his girlfriend, was set free a few years ago. The law of double jeopardy prevents him from being charged with the same crime after that. However, he attacked his current girlfriend recently. The law has also by this time allowed the police to charge a person for the same crime if fresh evidence surface. So he was charged and jailed. The laws of this world can be flexible.
But God's law is the gold standard. Jesus took our place, was charged with all our past, present and future sins, and He bore the penalty with His Life and His Blood. God will never ever charge us never ever again, no matter how much the devil digs up fresh evidence, or our stumblings create new evidence. God says there is no double jeopardy for us in Christ Jesus! Hallelujah!
